Hope for the Lost

Hope for the lost

Your wind of four corners,

blows on our faces.

Your children are mourners,

for the lost in life’s races.

Man goes his own way,

seeking wisdom and signs.

God have mercy each day,

for those lost in line.

Our time is like vapor,

It will soon be my turn.

I’ll be saved by your blood,

when your court is adjourned.

Lord Jesus my God, hear what I pray!

That those in the dark,

will accept you one day.

Hallelujah.

I wrote this poem as the lost are consistently on my heart.  A favorite traveling evangelist of mine Pastor McCrackin once said: "I know, that I know that I'm saved, do you?"   Christ made me a new creature in September of 2015, and after trusting in Christ, and believing on the name of the Son of God; I became a new creature, I knew him.  I resonate with those words, I know that I know that I'm saved.  Do you? God's Word says you can.  Have you been born twice?

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. -1st John 5:13

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. -John 3:5

Everyone knows when a woman's water breaks new life is about to enter into the world. We are all born of water when we enter this world, but not are all born of the Spirit.  All those who believe can be sons and daughters of God.  Trust is all God requires:

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: -John 1:12

What do we trust in?  We trust in the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Paul sums this up in 1st Corinthians 15.

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Christ died for our sins, and was buried and rose again.  I will die one day, but will raise again in newness of life because of Christ's free gift on the cross.  Baptism by immersion pictures this same process.  The Holy Spirit tells us:

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 1st Peter 2:24

The word tree that the apostle Peter writes is the Greek word xulon according to the Greek New Testament lexicon. It is translated as a beam for hanging or a cross.  Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We will be buried one day in death and walk in newness of life so long as we trust in him.  Praise God for his free gift we don't deserve.
